Avid television fan Greg Lindberg scours broadcast, cable, and streaming sites for “must-watch” shows, so viewers don’t have to.
If you’re waiting for the new season of Game of Thrones in June, but need to satisfy your viewing fix, now, Greg Lindberg says these three shows will to the trick:
Better Call Saul: The AMC channel’s spin-off prequel to the incredible series Breaking Bad, is worthy of viewers’ attention, even if you haven’t seen one episode of Breaking Bad. The show chronicles how the main character, Jimmy McGill, morphs into Saul Goodman. While it lacks the intensity of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul makes it up with a superb character narrative. Indeed, Greg Lindberg believes it might actually be a better show. If you are a Breaking Bad fan, you’ll notice a few of your favorite characters back in Albuquerque. Need to play catch-up? You can watch the first two seasons on Netflix.
The Leftovers: What happens when two percent of the world’s population, some 140 million people, just vanish? That’s the premise for HBO’s The Leftovers that starts its third season in April. It’s a very heavy show. But, if you enjoy never knowing what happens next, The Leftovers will sate your appetite. You can find old and new episodes on HBO and HBO GO.
Brockmire: IFC’s Brockmire is a new show starring Hank Azaria as the titular character. Jim Brockmire is a baseball analyst whose career ends when he discovers that his wife is cheating on him. He doesn’t take it well. A decade later, Brockmire wants back in the business, but he must start from the bottom up. After watching Better Call Saul and The Leftovers, Greg Lindberg says you may need comedic relief, and Brockmire will be the remedy.
